bins, as well as cleaning gear. Also stock cool boxes of all sizes.
Fuel
Both the Phuket Boat Lagoon (VHF 71) and Yacht Haven Marina (VHF
68) have fuel and water available on jetty. There is a fuel and
water barge moored in Chalong Bay, which in season makes regular
trips to West Coast bays. Ask a local skipper for details. Petrol
for outboards is available at marinas and service stations.
Water
Always check what sort of water you are taking on board, drinking
or washing water, it is very important health-wise. Drink only
proper drinking water, and in some places you can fill the boat’s
tanks with drinking water but at others only washing water. Best
to get relevant information from local skippers and marina mangers.
You can buy drinking water very easily at the many outlets on
the roadside, both in small and large bottles. You will find that
the local Thai are personally VERY careful with their drinking
water, and when eating at a noodle stall the water on the table
is for drinking as is the ice. Wash all salad vegetables in drinking
water before eating.
Ice
As with the water, there are two types of ice, one for drinking
and one for chilling foods and drinks. Do not drink the chilling
ice. Drinking ice also readily available at marinas, shops, supermarkets
and roadside stalls in small or large bags. Some will deliver
large blocks and bags of ice as well as water containers.
Laundry
Many places offer excellent services. Better to get a per kilo
rate for larger amounts than by the item. Cost around 25 – 35
baht per kilo depending on items and condition. Usually takes
24 – 48 hours for bag wash, dry and fold.
