| 12th | HM The Queen's Birthday Celebrations On this auspicious occasion, homes and public buildings throughout the Kingdom are decorated with glittering fairy lights as an expression of reverence and loyalty to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Half-Marathon Charity Run organised by the Suan Luang Club in honour of the Queen's birthday. There will be a 21-km half-marathon (Costs 250 baht), a 10.5-km mini-marathon (200 baht) and a 3.5-km fun run (100 baht). Register at the park or Phuket Bike Shop and the run starts 5am. |

During the festival, thousands of participants adopt a strict vegetarian diet to purify body and mind so they can take part in sacred rituals. Piercing of the body and face with sharp objects and walking barefooted on hot charcoal are all done in the belief that good health and spiritual peace will be attained.
